Behind the Scenes of “Dancing”: The Title

Choosing the right title for a book is both an art and a challenge. It’s more than just a few words on the cover—it’s a gateway to the reader’s experience and often the first impression they’ll have of the ideas inside. For Dancing Our Way to Human-AI Consciousness, the process of finding the right title was anything but straightforward. It was a journey of trial, reflection, and careful consideration, all while trying to capture the essence of a book that aims to speak to a diverse and wide-ranging audience.
Exploring Possible Titles
In the early stages of writing, I played with several different titles, each reflecting a slightly different aspect of the book. At one point, I considered calling it Roadmap to Consciousness, which would have emphasized the structured and exploratory nature of the book. Later, Roadmap to Conscious Love seemed fitting, especially given the importance of conscious love as a central theme throughout my work.
Other ideas also came up: Positive Impact had a strong appeal because it connected to the broader aim of creating positive change in both individuals and society. HumanAI was another title I considered, capturing the intersection of human consciousness and artificial intelligence. I even toyed with more creative options like Technologicus Spains, which would have been an interesting nod to my background and experiences. And for a while, I seriously considered Dance to Consciousness—a simpler, more direct version of the title I eventually settled on.
But as time went on and I continued to develop the ideas in the book, none of these titles fully resonated with the broader, more complex message I was trying to convey. Each of them spoke to certain aspects of the book but didn’t encompass the full scope of what I was attempting to communicate.
Ultimately, the title Dancing Our Way to Human-AI Consciousness felt like the right fit. It captured the sense of fluidity, movement, and interaction between humanity and AI, while also maintaining the deeper themes of consciousness and personal growth. The dance metaphor reflects the dynamic relationship we must build with AI—one that is collaborative, graceful, and conscious.
Deciding on the Subtitle (or Not)
Finding the right subtitle was just as challenging. A subtitle serves as an extension of the title, giving potential readers a more detailed sense of what the book is about. I experimented with a few options, such as A Visual Roadmap to Individual and Collective Consciousness in the Age of AI and A Visual Roadmap to Individual and Collective Positive Impact in the Age of AI. Both would have emphasized the visual and structural aspects of the book, while also highlighting its dual focus on individual and collective transformation.
Yet, as I moved deeper into the writing process, I realized that adding a subtitle might complicate things at this stage. While the full title and subtitle combination may serve well for the final version, I decided to keep it simpler for the Minimum Viable Book (MVB) stage. The core title, Dancing Our Way to Human-AI Consciousness, felt powerful and expansive enough to stand on its own for now. It also left some room for curiosity and interpretation, which I felt was important during the feedback phase.
The Challenge of Naming a Book for a Diverse Audience
One of the greatest challenges in finalizing the title was the need to cater to a broad and diverse audience. This book isn’t just for one type of reader—it’s written for meditation practitioners, business leaders, AI researchers, and anyone interested in the intersection of human consciousness and technology. On top of that, Dancing Our Way to Human-AI Consciousness covers a wide range of disciplines, making it even more challenging to find a title that encapsulates its full breadth.
The book connects and explores concepts from meditation, psychology, philosophy, leadership, sociology, history, religion, technology, social activism, and more. Each of these disciplines offers a different lens through which to approach the ideas in the book. For example, meditation practitioners may see it as a guide to inner transformation, while AI researchers might view it as an exploration of how consciousness and technology interact. Business leaders could find value in the leadership and psychological insights, while social activists may resonate with the broader call for collective action and positive societal impact.
With such a multidisciplinary focus, finding a title that resonates with all these groups was no small feat. I needed a title that would appeal to those in the mindfulness and meditation space while still catching the attention of AI researchers and professionals navigating digital transformation. At the same time, business leaders—who often look for actionable insights and frameworks—needed to feel that the book could speak to them as well.
But the challenge doesn’t end with the title alone—it extends to how this book will be categorized in bookstores and libraries. Given its wide range of topics, Dancing Our Way to Human-AI Consciousness could easily fit into several different categories. Will it be placed on the philosophy shelf, alongside books on consciousness and the human mind? Or will it find a home in the technology section, near books on AI and digital transformation? Perhaps it will sit with leadership books, given its insights into personal growth and positive impact. There’s even a case for it being placed in sections on sociology or social activism, as it deals with collective consciousness and societal change.
For those responsible for categorizing books in stores and libraries, the decision of where to shelve this book might be as complex as the title itself. It highlights the challenge of creating a book that spans so many disciplines and speaks to such a wide range of readers—while also making it accessible in the right context.
Ultimately, the title Dancing Our Way to Human-AI Consciousness carries a sense of universality. The metaphor of dancing speaks to the human experience of flow, balance, and connection—concepts that transcend individual disciplines and resonate across different fields of study. At the same time, it explicitly references AI, drawing in readers who are curious about how technology and consciousness intersect.
A Title with Room to Evolve
As with many parts of the book, the title is not set in stone. One of the beauties of the MVB process is that it leaves room for growth, refinement, and change. The feedback I receive from readers will undoubtedly shape the final product, and it’s possible that both the title and subtitle will evolve as the book matures. But for now, I feel that Dancing Our Way to Human-AI Consciousness is the best expression of the book’s central themes, and I’m excited to see how it resonates with those who read it.
