Sobrecarga silenciosa: cuando la IA empuja sin que nadie lo decida

No siempre trabajamos más porque nos lo pidan. A veces trabajamos más porque simplemente ocurre.

Hay un fenómeno cada vez más frecuente, especialmente en entornos digitales y con el uso creciente de la IA, que en inglés se denomina workload creep —lo que comienza como productividad acaba convirtiéndose en una nueva expectativa normal. En castellano, elijo llamarlo «sobrecarga silenciosa«.

No es un aumento repentino del trabajo.
No es una crisis puntual.
Es una expansión progresiva, casi imperceptible, de lo que hacemos cada día.

Y cuando nos damos cuenta, ya estamos dentro.

Esto es un problema futuro. Es un problema presente. La brecha de la IA no es una hipótesis. Y la tensión entre A y B no es un debate teórico. Ambas cosas ya están moldeando decisiones empresariales, culturas organizativas, trayectorias profesionales y desigualdades sociales.

El riesgo no es que ocurran. El riesgo es no verlas mientras ocurren.

Aprender a convivir con nuestras dos inteligencias

No hay dos tipos de personas. Hay dos modos de operar.
En muchas conversaciones recientes aparece una simplificación peligrosa:

los prudentes vs los rápidos
los rigurosos vs los innovadores
los que piensan vs los que hacen
los que no usan la IA vs lo que la usan para todo

Pero la realidad es más compleja y más honesta: A y B no son personas. Son modos de operar que viven dentro y fuera de nosotros. Y el verdadero desafío no es elegir uno. Es aprender a convivir con ambos.

La brecha digital no era el final de la historia. Durante dos décadas hablamos de la brecha digital y la simplificamos con un quién tenía acceso a internet y quién no. E invertimos en infraestructuras, alfabetización y dispositivos. Y lo hicimos bien: hoy, millones de personas están conectadas.

Pero conectarse ya no basta. Estamos entrando en una nueva fase: la brecha de la IA. No separa a quienes tienen acceso, sino a quienes tienen amplificación.

The story of «Dancing our Way to Human-AI Consciousness» is also the story of key cracks that I have gone through, both breakdowns —moments where things broke down—and jointures—moments where seemingly disparate parts of my life came together to form something new. These breakdowns and jointures represent profound realizations where the automatic pilot of my behaviors was interrupted, my limited consciousness was manifested, and new awareness emerged. Each of these moments guided me on a path toward greater understanding of life and my place on it, something that we could refer as consciousness.

If I had to trace the beginning, I would have to explore these breakdowns and jointures chronologically, as each one represents a step in my journey.
