Behind the Scenes of «Dancing»: The Masculine and the Feminine

This week, I had the privilege of participating in a conscious sexuality retreat organized by Carmen and Michel, a space where the energies of the masculine and feminine danced not only within me but also in those around me. The retreat wasn’t just about physical sexuality—it was about energy. It was about learning to move with the flow of these complementary forces, the yin and yang, the masculine and feminine, allowing them to guide us through deeper layers of self-awareness, connection, and presence. For me, it was a profound reminder of how this dance shapes every part of who we are—beyond gender, societal roles, and the surface.
At the retreat, the dance of these energies was palpable. It became clear that this dynamic interplay between the masculine and feminine is happening inside each of us. It manifests most purely when we are present, aligned with our true essence, and tuned into our energetic self. This experience reaffirmed the core idea I explore throughout Dancing Our Way to Human-AI Consciousness: the energetic-self hypothesis, which proposes that we are much more than our physical bodies or personalities. We are energy, and within this energetic self exists the constant movement of polarities—the masculine and the feminine—shifting, balancing, leading, and following.
One of the clearest ways I’ve found to understand the masculine and feminine within my energetic self is by mapping them inside as we do with broadly known concepts at other levels of the self. For example, at the mental level, we can think rationally and creatively. On the emotional level, we can feel joy and sadness. And on the physical level, we manifest as right-handedness and left-handedness. This mapping helps clarify that we have the potentiality of the “masculine” and the “feminine” inside, something that otherwise can feel abstract. By embracing this matching across different levels of the self, we fully grasp the profound widening of our options in life. Acknowledging the masculine and feminine energies within us doubles our choices at every level. Whether we are thinking, feeling, or doing, we have the option to approach from either a masculine or feminine perspective. This isn’t just about expanding possibilities; it’s about achieving balance. When we consciously choose how to think, feel, or act, based on an awareness of both masculine and feminine energies, we become more attuned to the natural rhythms of our life.
This understanding is crucial, especially as we navigate the confusion that often arises when we conflate «gender» with «energetic polarities«. In the physical realm, society teaches us that masculine and feminine equate to male and female, boys and girls. But this simplistic view limits the vast potential of the masculine and feminine energies within all of us, regardless of gender. The energies of masculine and feminine refer to universal principles, not gender roles. When we confuse gender with these universal polarities, we limit our potential to harness both energies fully. So we find here another narrative that is obsolete and the we better update for the thriving in the age of AI.
For me, the recognition of this dance began years ago when I first discovered the masculine and feminine within me. These two energies became so distinct and real that they took on identities: the masculine in me is Carlos, and the feminine in me is Isabella. Over the years, these two parts of myself have become so integrated that they feel like two voices in my head, constantly in a dialogue seeking balance. They speak to each other, support each other, and challenge each other.
Carlos, the masculine, brings focus, action, and clarity to my life. He makes decisions, sets goals, and keeps me grounded in the practicalities of the world. Isabella, the feminine, nurtures my creative spirit, emotions, and intuition. She guides me through the waters of feeling, connection, and flow. Together, they balance each other, and their interplay forms the foundation of how I navigate my life, both professionally and personally.
Over the years, I have symbolically married Carlos and Isabella in ritual ceremonies, honoring the sacred union of these two forces within me. Each time I revisit this union, it’s an acknowledgment that I need both of them—masculine and feminine—to live in harmony. Again, just in case, I feel them as the two voices that keep talking inside my head all day long, guiding me, challenging me, and keeping me in balance.
This internal dance of masculine and feminine is one that we all experience, whether we realize it or not. It is the dynamic interplay of polarities that allows us to feel whole, balanced, and to move with grace through life. To fully embrace this dance, we must first let go of the societal narrative that tells us that masculine and feminine are about gender. These are energies—two sides of the same coin—and they exist within all of us. By embracing this internal dance, we bring harmony and potential to our relationships, our work, and our personal growth.
The beauty of recognizing this dynamic is that it lies at the heart of Dancing Our Way to Human-AI Consciousness. Although I explicitly mention masculine and feminine energies several times in the book, the concept runs much deeper. It is at the root of my proposal. Every reference to “opening” or “love” is an indirect reference to the feminine, and every reference to “closing” or “presence” is a subtle nod to the masculine. This framework helps structure the flow of energy not just within ourselves, but in how we engage with the world. The key attitude of “loving presence” is, in itself, a metaphor for the dance of the masculine and feminine within us. There is this voice inside that keeps telling me I should recognize Carlos & Isabella Goga as the true co-authors of the book, as they represent the core perspectives within the manuscript. Carlos brings the analytic, rational, technological, and business view, while Isabella contributes the kindness, creativity, humanistic, and love perspective.
This dance of masculine and feminine, of Carlos and Isabella, isn’t just a concept or philosophy; it is an embodied experience. It manifests in how I move through life, connect with others, and show up for myself. By learning to honor and balance these energies within me, I can easily recognize that I create more meaningful connections with others and deepen my relationship with myself. In many ways, I am a living testimony to the happiness that comes when this dance occurs in a harmonious and rhythmic way.
In Dancing Our Way to Human-AI Consciousness, this theme of polarity runs throughout. Just as we must balance the masculine and feminine within ourselves, we are learning to balance the human and the technological as we navigate the future. It’s all a dance—a dance of energies, polarities, and possibilities. When we approach this dance with awareness, presence, and open-heartedness, we create a life that is not only balanced but deeply fulfilling.
So, the next time you feel the push and pull of energies within you—whether in love, work, or creativity—remember that this is the dance of the masculine and feminine. It reflects the natural rhythm of life and offers the key to living in harmony with both yourself and the world around you.
